At Kings College London, the Palestinian Society issued a call for support for Marwan Barghouti and the Palestinian hunger strike. Their call was full of lies and distortions, calling the strikers “political prisoners” and accusing Israel of racism for imprisoning them. CAMERA-supported group KCL Israel Society issued this statement in response:

“A hunger strike is being carried out in Israeli prisons, led by Marwan Barghouti, who was behind three attacks that cost the lives of five people, including victims that are Jewish, Christian and Druze. These victims were simply going about their daily lives- sitting in a Tel Aviv restaurant, driving along a road, pulling into a gas station. Mr. Barghouti denies the charges but, saying he doesn’t recognize Israeli courts, declined to defend himself. We deplore the idea that prisoners such as Barghouti who are guilty of killing innocent civilians deserve extra privileges. They are not ‘political prisoners’; they are terrorists who have committed politically inclined murders. Expressing solidarity with the plight of the Palestinian people is fine, but seeking to glorify terrorism and violence will only harm the prospects for peace.”
