Travel with us for FREE on our annual Student Leadership/ Advocacy Training Trip to Israel.
The annual CAMERA Israel Advocacy and Leadership Training to Mission to Israel provides students with a deeper understanding of the Arab-Israeli conflict, giving them the confidence to continue to present the facts to their peers and campus communities. Every year, CAMERA selects knowledgeable student activists to join our CAMERA Fellows Representatives on the training mission.
The theme of the trip is "Israel Behind The Headlines: Understanding Media Coverage of the Arab-Israeli Conflict." Students learn about Israel's existential struggle and the influential role played by news coverage of events in Israel, gain first-hand knowledge of the factors influencing coverage of the Arab-Israeli conflict, meet with international journalists, policy makers, world-renowned academics, and government leaders.
The students participate in training sessions about media coverage and how to help promote sound reporting, visit top Israeli institutions and meet PR experts to learn how to effectively communicate a message.
They tour key sites relevant to news reports, participate on special tours, such as an archaeological rescue effort of artifacts from the Temple Mount, explore the diversity of Israel, and mingle with young Israelis.
Highlights from past trips included a jazz festival at the ancient ruins of Caesarea, a visit to the MEMRI Israel headquarters guided by MEMRI founder Yigal Carmon, a tour of a Golan winery, lectures by Jerusalem Post journalists Yaakov Katz and Khaled Abu Toameh, and a geo-political tour of Jerusalem led by Jerusalem expert and former Jerusalem City Planner Israel Kimhi.

"Working with CAMERA to bring informative speakers to campus and personally study Israel’s challenges provided a lot of information, strategies to be a better pro-Israel advocate, and social connections with other activists at various campuses across the U.S. This combination will serve me well in my future pro-Israel endeavors and no doubt have a strong ripple effect."
-Itamar Gnatt, University of Maryland Baltimore County Israel Trip Participant '13
"The CAMERA Leadership trip was one of my favorite trips to Israel. Being surrounded by so many Israel advocates who are so passionate about Israel really makes you love the country even more. I would highly recommend everyone who is eligible to go on this trip!"
-Johnathan Kalfus, University of Southern California Fellow and Israel Trip Participant '13
"I am grateful that CAMERA provided me the opportunity to see Israel in an entirely different way than ever before. It was incredible to listen to so many well informed speakers and visit various important historic sights. After this trip I feel more confident than ever in my ability to accurately and confidently defend the State of Israel on my college campus."
-Daniel Mael, Brandeis University Israel Trip Participant '13
"Truly an impressive array of speakers -- all provided differing perspectives on a variety of topics with respect to politics, geopolitics, and international relations in the Middle East. Further, the itinerary provides a great balance between fun and learning, and provides an open environment by which students can discuss disparate campus atmospheres. So thankful I was given this opportunity to meet speakers, stay at awesome hotels, and eat great food in the homeland!"
-Soraya Hoberman, University of California, Berkeley CAMERA Fellow '11-'12 and Israel Trip Participant '13
"First, let me thank you for an amazing experience. The subjects that were touched by the different speakers, and the wide spectrum of approaches and opinions that were presented and discussed by the speakers and participants has helped me articulate my own feelings and opinions about Israel and its place among the nations. This well-thought and carefully organized mission to Israel has went beyond my all my expectations. It is an experience I will always remember and has gained a lot from."
-Abir I. Gitlin, University of Miami CAMERA Fellow '12-'13 and Israel Trip Participant '13
"After fighting for Israel on my campus, coming to Israel with like-minded individuals made it clear why fighting the fight is so important. Having the ability to see Israel through CAMERA's perspective was enlightening and educational. After getting lost in a sea of Palestinian "freedom" activists shoving their anti-Israel sentiment down your throat on campus, it's nice to know none of the things being stated shed a light of truth. Exploring Druze villages, hearing mosques in Jerusalem and watching Christians, Muslims, Druze and Jews live together in one small chunk of land is the reason why I fight the fight. I was so grateful to witness the reality of Israel as opposed to what the media is constantly telling me and educating my peers of."
-Kayla Wold, San Francisco State University Fellow '13-'14 and Israel Trip Participant '14
"The CAMERA trip more than anything else opened my eyes to how different each and every campus is in the United States and Canada and also the fight we young Jewish advocates have in store for us when standing up for Israel. The fight is not only just between state actors, its between college aged young professionals even more so. I became a member and supporter of CAMERA to learn the accurate ways to portray Israel. Am Yisrael Chai and todah rabah CAMERA for this life changing, eye opening, fun and educational trip to Israel."
-Alexa Lazarow, Towson University Israel Trip Participant '14
"The knowledge I gained on this trip about the Arab-Israeli Conflict was one of a kind. Not only was I able to visit the Middle East free of charge, but I was also able to hear important stories first hand...Although I am not of Jewish descent or have a deep connection to the land of Israel, I was able to comprehend the struggle just as much as the fight for the land of Israel and the Jewish people through my CAMERA trip."
-Jemmie Tejeda, Clark University Israel Trip Participant '14
